Road Riding

Do not be put off by the mountain bikers, the Portes du Soleil area is famous for its road climbs and there is something to challenge even the fittest of riders. Novice riders can take in the beautiful scenery on a gentle ride, and racers can test themselves on one the many Tour de France stages. The area is immersed in Tour de France history and plays host to some of the most gruelling climbs including the classic Col de Joux Plane and the Col de Ramaz Morzine hosted a stage of the 2003 centenary tour and will do so again in July 2006. The 199km stage from St Jean de Maurienne ends in Morzine on July 20th and the next 193km stage to Macon starts from the town the very next day. This will definitely be a spectacular event and is not to be missed!

There are many other great routes to choose from including the Route de Avoriaz and the circular route from Morzine  to Morzine via Samoens. This route can be taken in any direction and takes in the Col de Joux Verte or the climb from Taninges to Les Gets.
